This rare 1950s Suzhou erhu was produced by the Suzhou Musical Instrument Cooperative, an early organization in Suzhou’s traditional instrument-making history.

The instrument features a premium mixed-material construction:

A neck made from aged Huanghuali (rosewood)
A hand-carved dragon head crafted from Indian sandalwood
A resonator combining Huanghuali and Indian sandalwood

This combination of rare hardwoods provides both structural strength and a complex tonal character, balancing warmth, depth, and clarity.
